The short version

You are 18 or older. What you write is yours. Scenes are written by people; an AI writes the recap, and a reading of your character if you ask for one. Three things are not allowed, and a scene that crosses that line is locked and read by a person. You can leave whenever you like, and everything you wrote goes with you.

Your account

You need an account to write. You make one with an email address and a password, or with Discord. You must be 18 or older, and you confirm that once, on the welcome page. One person, one account. Keep your password to yourself; what is done with your account is yours to answer for.

What you write

Your characters, their pages, and every passage you write are yours. You keep the rights to them. You give RP Forge permission to store them, show them to the people the product shows them to, and send a finished scene to the AI that writes its recap. That permission ends when you delete the writing or the account, except as the next paragraph says.

A scene is written by two people. Your partner's passages are theirs, and yours are yours. If you delete a character or your account, your passages go; your partner keeps theirs, and sees that you left. If you both chose to make a scene public, it stays readable until either of you withdraws that choice or deletes their side.

The recap and the reading are written by an AI from your scene. Nothing it writes is posted as yours, and nothing you write is posted as the AI's.

The rules

The content rules are part of these terms. They allow nearly everything and forbid three things: sexual content involving anyone under 18, sexual content about a real person, and real-world threats or personal details of real people. A scene that breaks them is locked, and a person reads it. Breaking them again, or badly, ends your account.

Beyond the rules: do not use RP Forge to harass someone, to pretend to be someone you are not, to scrape or copy other writers' work, or to attack the service itself.

The AI

When a scene ends, its text is sent to an AI to write the recap and to sort the scene against the content rules. If you switch on readings for a character, their scenes are also read to write the reading. The AI never writes into a scene, never answers for a character, and never starts a scene. Leaving

You can delete a character from its hub, or the whole account from the account page. Deleting the account removes everything you wrote, at once, and cannot be undone. We can close an account that breaks these terms; if we do, we say why, unless the law forbids it.

The service

RP Forge is offered as it is. We try to keep it up and keep your writing safe, and we take backups, but we cannot promise it will always be available or never lose anything. Keep a copy of writing you could not bear to lose. We are not responsible for what other writers write, or for any loss that comes from using the service, beyond what the law does not let us exclude.

We may change RP Forge, and we may close it. If we close it, we give at least thirty days' notice and a way to take your writing with you.

Changes to these terms

The date at the top is the version you are reading. When the terms change in a way that matters, we tell you before the change applies, and you can leave if you do not agree.
