Privacy

The short version

We keep what you write and what we need to run your account. We count page visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and does not identify you. We do not sell your data, show ads, or use third-party trackers. An AI reads finished scenes to write recaps and check the rules, and that is the only place your writing goes. Delete your account and it is all gone.

What we keep

• Your account. Your email address and a hash of your password, or the Discord account you signed in with. The date you agreed to the terms, and your appearance setting.
• Your characters. Everything on a character's page: the name, the quote, the pronouns, the world, the about, the portrait, and whether the page is public, listed or private.
• Your scenes. Every request, premise, passage and aside, who wrote it and when; the recap; whether each writer chose to make the scene public.
• Readings, if you switched them on for a character.
• Reports and reviews. What was reported, the note that came with it, and what the reviewer decided. A locked scene's one-line reason, written by the AI without quoting the scene.
• A ledger of AI use. Which scene was read, when, by which model, and how many tokens it took. Never the text.

Who sees it

A public character's page is on the open web, portrait and all. A private character is visible to nobody but you; to everyone else the address does not exist. A scene is seen by its two writers, and by anyone, if both writers chose to make it public. An explicit scene can never be made public.

A reviewer, a person, reads a scene that was locked or reported, and a character that was reported. They see the writers' characters, not their email addresses. The other writer is never told who reported.

The AI

When a scene ends, its text is sent to Anthropic, whose models write the recap and sort the scene against the content rules. If readings are on for a character, their finished scenes are sent to write the reading. Anthropic processes the text to return the result and does not use it to train its models. We send the scene and the character names, never your email address or anything about your account.

Where it lives

The app runs on Vercel. The database, the sign-in service and the portraits are on Supabase. Both keep backups. Your session is kept in cookies that sign you in; one more cookie remembers your appearance setting. There are no analytics cookies and no third-party trackers.

Taking it away

Deleting a character removes its page, its portrait, its readings and your passages in its scenes. Deleting the account, from the account page, removes all of that for every character, and the account itself, at once. What remains afterwards: your partners' own passages in scenes you shared, and the ledger of AI use with no name on it. Backups age out within thirty days.
